Ann's Bio
All of my life I have enjoyed art. As a child, I would draw, sew, make pottery and create.
Early on I would bake cookies and take them to school. Learning new recipes and hosting parties has always been important to me. Through cooking you show others love.
In Junior High School I made my brothers shirts for Christmas. One shirt was a Western style shirt with yokes and snap buttons. The others were dress shirts. I would alter the patterns to fit me since I am petite. Made 5 pocket jean skirts and suits for myself.
Then in my early 20's I started making cards. Ever since then I have continued to learn new techniques in paper arts. Everything from using acrylics, ink pads, alcohol ink and watercolor In addition. Almost every day I do something creative. It may be stamping, coloring, or making a mixed media card. Continuously learning new techniques and creating new design elements.
I took photography classes and I was in a photography club. One of the highlights was traveling to Maui with a professional photographer.
More recently I have gone more into abstract and mixed media. In particular, I really enjoy alcohol inks.
Personally, I have three fur babies and a husband who is a comic book writer. Mike has won two Eisner Awards and an Inkpot award. We live in beautiful Colorado.
Current Art & Vision
My current art is in mixed media art.
At an early age I was interested in all aspects of creativity from cooking to sewing to pottery. In my early 20’s I learned about paper arts and that exploded my mind with inspiration.
There are so many aspects of paper art whether using acrylics, watercolor, inks or alcohol ink. Plus, many element such as design, embellishments and more.
Almost every day I spend time being creative. Whether it is making mixed media, watching videos or taking classes. There are new techniques and design elements you are learning all the time.
Art and creating is a joy for me. I love to share my mixed media by sending handmade cards to friends and those who need a bright spot in their day. My greeting cards are sent to folks who are in the hospital with cancer, premature babies, military, and assisted living homes. As well as, sending to a friend who is battling illness or have a birthday. It’s a way to spread love and joy.
In addition, my artwork is in Sanderosa Art Gallery in Laporte, Colorado. I have my art available on Fine Arts America too.
A couple of years ago, I wrote my autobiography Seoul Girl sharing about my life from being born in Seoul, South Korea to being adopted. There are lessons learned, mistakes made and inspiration.
To me creating is synonymous with breathing.
